The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers know when and where they will play their first playoff game in 2025, but who they will play against is still up in the air.
The Barnstormers, currently in fourth place in the Intercounty Baseball League standings, are guaranteed a top-4 finish in the standings, which will give them home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
But with two games left in the regular season schedule, both on the road, the team could still move up to a higher playoff seed depending on how the weekend plays out.
With 22 wins on the season, the Barnstormers are just one win behind the Barrie Baycats and the London Majors who are second and third place in the standings, respectively -- and the Barnstormers play against the Majors in London on Friday.
No matter where the Barnstormers end up in the standings, the team will start the playoffs with a home game at Fergie Jenkins Field on Thursday, August 21.
Barnstormers co-owner Dom Dinelle is happy to see that the team will have home-field advantage to start the postseason.
"We've got the best fans in the league and it pumps up the players," said Dinelle. "The guys are playing really well at home for sure."
The Barnstormers have a 13-8 at home this season compared to 9-10 on the road. Dinelle said the attendance at the last two home games was about 1,400 on August 9 and about 1,100 on August 10.
Tickets for the Barnstormers' first playoff game on August 21 will be available on Monday, August 18 and they will be ready to pick up at the office, online, or at the Chatham Pro Shop.
