WAMBO returns to Wallaceburg this weekend

Classic cars, boats, motorcycles, fire trucks, and tour buses will be on display this weekend for one of Canada's largest transportation shows.

The Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing (WAMBO) kicks off on Friday, August 8.

"Classic cars, motorcycles, trucks, fire trucks, tour buses from various artists and so on, and boats. We take over downtown Wallaceburg," said Vice Chairman and Treasurer Paul Dineno. "From what I know so far, we have approximately 180 cars, about 40 boats, I know it's over 50 motorcycles. Fire trucks, you’re never sure, there could be 10 or there could be 20, it just depends."

There will also be tour buses from stars like Alan Jackson on display.

But WAMBO is more than just classic vehicles and boats.

"There are food vendors, we have lots of those, and then we have Art in the Park. We have a karaoke tent, and then we have our refreshment tent, and then there's the live entertainment," said Dineno. "On Friday night we are starting off with Leave Those Kids Alone. This is their third or fourth time at WAMBO, and it's their graduation tour. Then on Saturday afternoon 2 to 4 p.m. we have Colt McLaughlin, a local country fellow out of Petrolia. Saturday night, we went a little big this year. It's Wallaceburg's 150th anniversary, so it kind of pulled out all the stops with the Steven Page Trio. Steven Page is from Barenaked Ladies, so you might hear the odd tune from them. So we're looking forward to that, that starts at 8:30 p.m."

WAMBO is free to attend. For the full schedule of events, visit www.wambo.ca.
