Two men from Chatham have been convicted for allowing their dog to be in distress for almost a year.
However, two other charges were withdrawn.
Court documents obtained by CK News Today showed that Devon and Rubon Handsor were found guilty in Chatham-Kent Provincial Offences Court on July 8, 2025 of causing distress to a dog, but the charges of failing to provide adequate and appropriate medical attention and failing to provide the care necessary for the dog's welfare were dropped.
The animal welfare inspector said the charges stemmed from incidents at 54 Timmins Crescent in Chatham between April 2024 until March 2025.
The Handsors were each fined $1,000 and prohibited from owning and having custody or care of or living with animals for a period of three years. The court noted this order, however, does not apply to two dogs already under the care of Rubon Handsor.
