Chatham-Kent man charged by Sarnia police for alleged robbery

Sarnia police have charged a Chatham-Kent man for allegedly using a firearm to steal from a convenience store.

At around 2:30 a.m. on April 13, a man entered a business on Exmouth Street and gathered around $37 worth of items.

While the cashier was scanning the items, the man reportedly took out a firearm and demanded that they put the items into a brown paper bag.

Police were called, but couldn't find the man.

After investigating, police identified the suspect as a 21-year-old man. He was later arrested on June 30 during a larger enforcement project.

He's since been charged with robbery, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and failing to comply with a release order.
