Dangerous Driving Charges
A Chatham man has been charged with dangerous driving after witnesses reported a woman hanging out of a moving vehicle in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police alleged witnesses saw a man driving in reverse with his girlfriend partially inside the vehicle and the door open, following an argument on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham Wednesday night.
Police alleged one witness was brushed by the vehicle when they tried to intervene by standing in front of it, adding the suspect continued to drive forward with his girlfriend still not fully inside the vehicle.
Police said the 27-year-old Chatham man admitted to being an unlicensed driver and acknowledged operating the vehicle during the incident.
He was charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle.

Theft and Fraud Charges
Chatham-Kent police have charged a Chatham man with multiple charges, including fraud and theft, following a theft in Chatham.
Police said a victim reported her phone and debit and credit cards were stolen from the front desk of a public facility on Wellington Street West on Wednesday afternoon while she was present.
Police added the victim reported that her phone had been activated later that evening and was showing a location. She also told investigators that her credit and debit cards had been used at several local businesses.
Police reviewed surveillance footage from the local retailers and identified the suspect.
A 39-year-old Chatham man was arrested after police alleged he voluntarily surrendered the stolen phone and made several admissions related to the theft and fraud.
He also gave up other stolen items, including credit and debit cards belonging to the victim, according to police.
Police also noted the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant stemming from a May 2025 theft investigation.

A 36-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been charged with assault after allegedly slapping her partner.
Chatham-Kent police alleged the woman struck the man following an argument over their child at an apartment on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg on Wednesday night.
