Intoxicated Intruder

A 32-year-old woman from Chatham is facing assault and break and enter charges after she allegedly forced her way into a home while the homeowner was sleeping.

Chatham-Kent police allege the 36-year-old female homeowner was assaulted by an intoxicated intruder while trying to remove her from the property in Chatham on Monday at approximately 2:43 a.m.

Police said the homeowner succeeded in removing the suspect from the premises and then contacted police.

Officers arrested the suspect nearby without incident.

Bail Violations

Chatham-Kent police have charged a Chatham man with failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with a probation order after he went to a home that he was ordered to stay away from.

Police said the 32-year-old suspect was ordered by the court to stay away from the people living at the Chatham home and remain 50 metres away from any place where he knows they work or attend school, except when to attend court.

Police noted witnesses spotted the suspect.

According to CK police, he surrendered to officers on Monday just before 9 a.m. after consulting with his probation and parole officer.
