If you're looking for a place to cool off now that the weather is warming up, you should be able to find some water-related activities in Chatham-Kent.
Municipal splash pads are opening as of Friday -- just in time for the long weekend.
Splash pads are available in the following locations:
- Optimist Park, 356 Oak Street, Bothwell
- Kingston Park, 91 Paxton Drive, Chatham
- Kinsmen Community Park, 760 Tecumseh Street, Dresden
- Mitchell’s Bay Beach Park, 5 Main Street, Mitchell’s Bay
- Kiwanis Park, 5 George Street, Ridgetown
- Ferguson Park, 32 Wallace Street, Thamesville
- Knights of Columbus Park, 49 Bond Avenue, Tilbury
- Colwell Park, 300 Running Creek Drive, Wallaceburg
- Jaycee Park, Larkwood Street, Wallaceburg (splash toy)
- Wheatley Area Recreation Complex, 196 Erie Street North, Wheatley
The municipal splash pads are scheduled to be operational all summer and right through the Labour Day weekend.
The splash pads at Blenheim's Talbot Trail Place and Merlin's Kinsmen Park are independently operated, though, so their opening dates may be different than the municipal splash pads.
For those who would rather spend time on the water than in it, the seasonal public boat launches in Chatham, Dresden, and Jeannette’s Creek are also now open.
