A new doctor is joining the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance's Obstetrics and Gynecology department.
The CKHA says Dr. Jessica Smith, who is originally from Windsor-Essex, is joining the hospital's OB/GYN team, expanding it to five physicians.
"We are delighted to welcome Dr. Smith to CKHA and the community of Chatham-Kent," said Dr. Zeke Milkovic, Acting Chief of Staff, CKHA. "Her extensive training, particularly her fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, represents a significant enhancement to our surgical program and our ability to offer specialized women's healthcare services locally."
A release from the CKHA said Dr. Smith graduated from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Windsor Campus in 2016 and completed her five-year residency at the University of Toronto followed by a specialized Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery -- also in Toronto.
Dr. Smith will be offering a wide range of services including pre-pregnancy counseling, comprehensive pregnancy and postpartum care.
"I’m thrilled to be joining the team of OB/GYNs, midwives, physician colleagues and allied health providers who are passionate about women’s healthcare in Chatham-Kent," said Dr. Smith in a release. "Now more than ever, we need to prioritize women’s health, and I am excited to help champion the cause."
The CKHA said Dr. Smith will be practicing alongside Dr. Charles Hamm at his clinic at 100 King Street West in Chatham and she is currently taking referrals.
