Damage estimated at $200K after Patteson Ave fire

Chatham-Kent firefighters had to battle smoke, flames, and strong wind gusts in Chatham Monday evening.

CK fire officials said crews from Stations #1 and #2 were called to 79 Patteson Avenue in Chatham just after 9 p.m. on Monday.

When the firefighters arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming out of the home, adding that there was "extensive fire" in the room where the blaze started.

Crews opened the roof and also had to deal with windy conditions.

The efforts to put out the flames resulted in widespread water damage to the entire home.

The damage was estimated at $200,000 and the cause is going down as undetermined.

There were no injuries reported.
