Intimate Partner Violence Arrest

A 38-year-old man from Chatham has been charged after allegedly breaching his court order to stay away from a Chatham woman.

Chatham-Kent police said officers arrested the suspect after a domestic dispute at a residence in Chatham on Tuesday night.

According to police, the suspect had court conditions stemming from a previous incident to not communicate or attend anywhere the 36-year-old woman was to be after their relationship fell apart.

CK police alleged the accused attended a residence where a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation and threatening statements were made to the victim.

The accused fled the scene, but was later arrested and charged with failing to comply with bail conditions, two counts of assault, and uttering death threats, police noted.

Assault Charges

Chatham-Kent police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old man with assault and assaulting a peace officer following an alleged attack at a store in Tilbury.

Police alleged the Chatham-Kent suspect, who had previously been identified as trespassing on the property, returned to the store on Queen Street in Tilbury on Tuesday night and assaulted the business owner in an "unprovoked attack."

The victim sustained minor injuries and didn't require medical attention, police reported.

Police also noted that the man became irate and spat on a Special Constable while in custody.

Hi-tech to the rescue

CCTV cameras are getting credit for helping Chatham-Kent police with two investigations.

Police said they were able to "swiftly" identify an assault suspect in Chatham thanks to surveillance footage.

No charges have been laid and the investigation continues.

The cameras also helped officers find a missing person in Dresden.

Police said cameras in downtown Dresden helped determine the youth's direction and narrowed the search area.
