A sure sign summer is just around the corner

There are hundreds of thousands of dollars up for grabs again this year through the municipality's Together CK Grant Program.

Chatham-Kent Manager of Community Attraction and Promotion Victoria Bodnar is asking CK council to endorse 65 applications vying for $400,000 in grants.

"The funds distributed by this program have encouraged widespread community improvements and engagement," wrote Bodnar in her report going before council on Monday night.

Bodnar noted the grants have supported 401 events and 526 projects in the past 25 years since the inception of the program.

The 2025 funding recommendations include $25,000 each for Taste of Chatham-Kent, Crowfest, Dresden Night Market, RetroFest, and Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing.

She noted the grants are a bit late this year because of staff turnover, adding that three time sensitive events and one project valued at $22,000 had to be pre-approved earlier because of the four month delay.

The applications are weighed and scored based on merit and potential impact in the community and if they fit council priorities and the tourism plan.
