Recreational group donates to multiple CK charities, initiatives

CK Dream Field and VON Kid's Circle are the newest recipients of donations from Play It 4Ward CK.

This year, the multi-sport recreational group will donate over $2,400 to four local causes.

CK Dream Field will get just over $790, Noelle's Gift will receive a little over $640, VON Kid's Circle will net $535, and Ronald McDonald House will get over $450.

Play It 4Ward CK consists of approximately 40 players who are redrafted into different teams each week.

These four teams compete in a variety of sports, ranging from volleyball to basketball to gym-class favorites like dodgeball, soccer baseball, and floor hockey. At the end of each game night, the winning teams earn donations for their chosen charities. The funds come from a $100 player membership fee and contributions from local businesses that sponsor specific nights or activities.

Play It 4Ward CK captain Caress Lee is proud of how the league combines sport and philanthropy.

"The charitable component of the league is, without a doubt, our favorite aspect. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see how much fun and teamwork can transform into meaningful contributions for our community," Lee shared.

On top of the donations, Play It 4Ward CK announced that it would be using its leftover funds to sponsor a youth soccer team and youth softball team this summer.

Last year, the league surpassed the $10,000 milestone in donations.
