Youth in Chatham-Kent who are on the hunt for an outfit for prom or graduation are in luck.
"If you're looking for a prom dress, grad dress, a suit, shoes, the whole nine yards, FreeHelpCK is opening the store at the downtown Chatham mall," said Amy Smith with FreeHelpCK.
The store will be open for the Prom & Grad Project on Saturday, March 29, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Saturday, April 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. with no appointment necessary.
There is also a "Cinderella Day" planned for $25.
"So what that means is that you can come on May 31 from 11 to 2, get your hair done, your makeup done, (and) a professional photographer is going to take some pictures," said Smith.
Photos will be taken at the Retro Suites Hotel.
The store is also set up like any dress store to give everyone the full shopping experience.
"We're in the downtown mall in the old La Senza store, so we've been there now for four years," said Geri Ann Hughson from FreeHelpCK. "It's all sized so you come in, find your dress. Some of the girls, and guys, take 10 dresses, and they go try them on until the find the perfect dress."
FreeHelpCK is currently accepting donations of formal wear, including dresses and suits, along with accessories, like jewellery, handbags, shoes, and ties.
Donations can be dropped off at Handy Bros on Classic Car Drive near Blenheim, Betty Brite on Keil Drive in Chatham, and the FreeHelpCK store in the mall. If the store is close, donations will be collected at T's & Sweats next door.
The even has grown from around 80 people the first year, to over 400 in 2024.
