Over $51K raised at CK Cornhole for Hospice fundraiser

The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation is getting a helping hand from a group of cornhole players.

The organization held its 2nd annual 'Cornhole for Hospice' fundraiser on Saturday and was able to raise over $51,000. One team, nicknamed "Patterson Pickles", was able to collect nearly $2,200.

This fundraiser was able to bring in around $18,000 more than the inaugural event in 2024.

The funds will help the Chatham-Kent Hospice continue offering its services to those at the end of their lives.

“We are so grateful for all of the teams who came out to support this event, as well as all of the donors and sponsors who made Cornhole for Hospice such a success,” said Ginny Hawken, Special Events Chair for the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.

A total of 37 teams took part in the event. They were split into two brackets based on their abilities.

Mike and Susan Cartier came out on top in the Best of the Best bracket, winning a trophy and $500. Gord and Tracy Adams won $250 for topping the Best of the Rest bracket.

“The true winners from this event are the people across Chatham-Kent that will have access to end-of-life care at no cost to themselves or their families," added Hawken.

Registration for the 2026 'Cornhole for Hospice' fundraiser is already open.
