Police conduct R.I.D.E. program

Chatham-Kent police checked 268 vehicles during a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on Friday.

The check was held in Chatham just before 8 p.m., police add that two roadside sobriety tests were conducted and 11 cautions were issued.

"The Chatham-Kent Police Service is committed to reducing impaired driving and ensuring the safety of everyone on our roads through the R.I.D.E. Program," police said.

Wallaceburg man arrested for impaired driving

CK police arrested a 22-year-old man for attempting to drive while intoxicated on Friday.

The arrest happened just before 10:30 p.m. on Water Street in Wallaceburg.

The Wallaceburg man is facing charges of impaired driving, resisting arrest, and refusing to comply with an officer's demand. He was later released with a February 24 court date.

Police make multiple warrant arrests

A Wheatley man was arrested in Leamington over the weekend.

According to police, the 27-year-old was wanted for two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, obstruction, and failing to attend court.

The man was picked up by Leamington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at 1:10 p.m. on Friday at a Clark Street West address before he was transferred to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters.

The man was released from police custody with a February 24 court date.

Two wanted men were arrested on Saturday.

The first was found at 3:36 a.m. on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Police said the 46-year-old was wanted on a witness warrant. the man was taken to police headquarters and held for bail.

The second Saturday arrest occurred at 11:10 a.m.

Police picked up a 43-year-old man on Richmond Street in Chatham on a warrant for breaching his probation.

The man was released from police custody with conditions and a March 17 court date.

On Sunday, at 2:46 a.m. a wanted woman from Harrow was arrested following a traffic stop.

Chatham-Kent police pulled the 33-year-old over on Prospect Street in Tilbury. During the stop, police found that the woman had warrants for missing court.

She was eventually released with a new court date of February 10.

A similar arrest took place in Wallaceburg, later that same day.

At about 4:15 p.m., police pulled over a 33-year-old woman on Fork Street. Investigators found that she was also wanted for failing to attend court.

She was released from police custody with conditions and a March 10 court date.

A 39-year-old man, who was wanted for failing to attend court, was arrested for a different reason on Sunday.

At around 10:17 p.m., the man was found on Gray Street in Chatham when police were called for a suspicious person investigation.

When officers discovered the outstanding warrant against him, the Chatham man was taken to police headquarters. He was later released with conditions and a March 3 court date.
