Movement of security cameras leads to arrest

A 42-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after police learned someone had tampered with security cameras at a local business.

CK police said they were called by a Wellington Street West business owner just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday and learned that someone had changed the direction her CCTV cameras faced.

Officers responded to the call and located a suspect.

He was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, and two counts of failing to attend court.

Police make multiple warrant arrests

Chatham-Kent police have crossed several names off of their wanted list.

On Wednesday, just before 8 a.m., police were called about an unwanted person at a Third Street address in Chatham.

When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old woman and arrested her for charges including theft and possession of property under $5,000.

The woman has been released from police custody with conditions and a March 24 court date.

A 52-year-old woman was arrested during a welfare check.

According to police, officers were asked to check on the condition of a person at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of St. Clair Street in Chatham. While conducting the check, police determined that the Chatham-Kent woman was wanted on a warrant for breaching her probation.

She was released with conditions and a March 3 court date.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police arrested a wanted 30-year-old woman.

Officers spotted the woman, who was wanted for charges of theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and assault, on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

She was released from police custody with conditions and a court date of March 10.

A Harwich Township man wanted on a DNA warrant was arrested in Chatham on Wednesday.

The 63-year-old was arrested just after 10:30 p.m. and taken to police headquarters for processing. He was later released with no conditions.
