No injuries in farm house fire in east CK

The cause of a farm house fire east of Highgate is under investigation.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue said it received a call about the blaze at 15810 Thomson Line near Macpherson Line Tuesday around 8:30 p.m.

Fire officials said Station #9 in Bothwell, Station #10 in Orford, and Station #11 in Ridgetown responded to the fire and bravely fought the blaze despite the extremely cold temperatures and harsh winter conditions.

The temperature at the time, including the windchill factor, was -26 Celcius.

A tanker from the Bothwell station was called to aid in water shuttle operations because the farm house was in a remote part of the municipality.

"The Command Unit was present on site to offer rehabilitation and a warming station for the crews," said CK Fire.

Chatham-Kent police and CK EMS were also on scene to provide support.

No injuries were reported and no estimated damage figure has been released.
