CK police briefs - Thursday, January 16, 2025

A Chatham man has been arrested and charged after a break and enter at a commercial business in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police reported officers were checking properties on Richmond Street in Chatham just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday when they discovered a bicycle lying in the snow near the entrance of an unsecured door of a building.

Police alledge a 58-year-old man was found with a bag full of wiring and transformer parts after officers entered the building to secure the premises.

He was taken into custody and held for bail.

Cut cables and copper theft are being blamed for three Bell service outages in Dresden over the past couple of weeks.
