Clear Medical Imaging strike ends with binding arbitration

Employees at Clear Medical Imaging will return to work after Christmas.

The eight-week-long strike ended when the employer and union agreed to arbitration.

"While we would have preferred to obtain a negotiated agreement, it became clear that arbitration was a necessary step to obtain a first collective agreement for these workers," said Unifor National President Lana Payne. "We are confident in our case and look forward to delivering the gains that these members went on strike to achieve."

Unifor Local 2458 members will return to work starting December 30 with a full return on January 2, 2025.

The company and union will meet with an arbitrator in March 2025.

"Our members stood together these past two months and remained steadfast in their determination not to settle for less than they deserve," said Unifor Local 2458 President Ken Durocher. "I want to express my thanks to the members for their solidarity and to the bargaining committee for persevering during these negotiations."

The members work as X-ray, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine technologists, clerical and administrative staff across 11 locations within Windsor, Chatham, Tecumseh, LaSalle, and Essex.
