Leamington residents face numerous weapon and drug charges

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say two people have been arrested following a raid this week in Leamington.

Members of the Leamington detachment, K-9 Unit, Community Street Crime Unit, West Region OPP Tactical Rescue Unit, and Emergency Response Team carried out a search warrant on Tuesday at a location on Seacliff Drive West.

A quantity of suspected fentanyl and "magic mushrooms" was confiscated, along with stolen property, a firearm, and ammunition. The total value of the items is $19,300.

A 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Leamington, are each charged with possession of an opioid with intent to sell, possession of stolen property under $5,000, unauthorized possession of a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a weapon or ammunition, and possession of a credit card.

The man is also charged with knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to an order, failure to comply with a release order, failure to comply with an undertaking, and operating a vehicle while prohibited. He has also been charged in connection with a stolen vehicle case from November.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing.
