The United Way Centraide of Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent is celebrating a large donation from Enbridge Gas.
A cheque for $244,843 was presented to the organization from the company, its employees, and retirees.
That's down from 2023 when Enbridge Gas donated $293,132.
The United Way of Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex merged earlier this year, but the organization says donations will stay local, with Chatham-Kent's funds helping Chatham-Kent.
This money will be used to help fund critical programs at the United Way that help address the needs of vulnerable populations across Chatham-Kent and beyond.
"We are deeply grateful to Enbridge Gas for its continued partnership and generosity," said Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way. "This transformative donation will have a profound impact on the lives of individuals and families across Chatham-Kent and will enable us to deepen our efforts and reach even more people in need. Together, we will create stronger, more resilient communities and drive meaningful change where it is needed most."
Enbridge Gas has been a long-time supporter of the United Way, dating back to 1948 when the company was called Union Gas.
"Enbridge Gas team members are committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work," said Jim Redford, Vice President of Energy Services at Enbridge Gas. "We are proud to support United Way in its mission to foster collaboration and to address the most-pressing needs of our local community. This donation represents our continued dedication to making a positive, lasting difference in Chatham-Kent."
