Multiple arrests made following disturbance in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police made a couple of arrests on Friday after calls about a disturbance in Chatham.

According to police, a large group of youths was on the move throughout the afternoon. Just after 4 p.m., officers arrived in the area of Barthe and Kent Street, causing the group to flee.

A 15-year-old was arrested while running over the Third Street Bridge.

The teen was taken to police headquarters and held for bail.

An 18-year-old woman was also arrested at this time and faces two counts of assault and one count of assault with a weapon.

Investigators said the woman held another young woman by the hair while burning another person's arm with a lighter.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Man threatened at knifepoint

CK police are investigating threats made against a 22-year-old man in Chatham.

The man was reportedly at a business on St. Clair Street when a group of men he didn't know approached him and threatened him with a knife.

The incident happened at around 8:50 p.m. on Friday.

The suspects all fled before police arrived.

Police investigating break-and-enter

An attempted break-and-enter at a Zone Road 5 shop is under investigation.

Investigators determined that suspects forced open a door of the shop around 8:45 p.m. on Friday, but were scared off by the alarm before they could do anything else.

Police said the suspects left the scene in an older extended cab pickup.

Woman arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent police caught up with a woman who was wanted on a warrant that was several years old.

Police arrested the woman at a motel on Talbot Trail in Blenheim.

She was wanted for failing to attend court.

She was released from police custody with a new court date of October 29.
