CK police briefs- August 31, 2024

Break and enter in Thamesville

Chatham-Kent police responded to an early morning alarm call from a local business on London Road in Thamesville.

Police said the business owner was watching surveillance footage remotely and could see there were people actively breaking into the business.

Officers arrived at the scene and located a male inside the business.

A 43-year-old Chatham man was arrested for break and enter as well as possession of a controlled substance.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for public intoxication and mischief

A 29-year-old Chatham man was arrested for mischief and being intoxicated in a public place following an incident early Saturday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m. police saw the intoxicated male in the area of Queen Street in Chatham.

CK police said he was acting aggressively and punched a side window of a vehicle on the roadway.

When officers approached him, he allegedly fled on foot but was quickly caught.

He was released from custody pending a future court date.
