Mental health fundraiser in Blenheim bursting with brews and beats

Another summer concert to help the community of Chatham-Kent is on the horizon.

Organizer Elisha Banks said the Music for the Mind concert will be held at Red Barn Brewing in Blenheim on August 17, 2024.

Banks noted this concert is their last event for this fundraising year and hopes it will "help us reach our financial goal."

She said all proceeds go directly to Family Service Kent, their Kids Team Program, and Chatham-Kent Victim Services.

The Brews & Beats music lineup at The Barn will feature performances by DJ Shawn L, Bren, Courtney Wells Band, 89 Next, Dirt Country and 40 Hours Over.

Advance tickets are $35.

The Music for the Mind fundraisers started in 2019.

Banks has benefited from mental health services herself in the past.

"This cause is personal," Banks said.

The fundraiser has evolved from a once-a-year concert to events all year long.

Banks previously told CK News Today the goal is to raise $60,000 for Music for the Mind through three events this year with all of the money going to support mental health services in Chatham-Kent.

"I know for a fact with the counseling piece, we've helped hundreds of people access counseling services between children and adults who otherwise would not have been able to afford to received the help they needed," said Banks.

Banks said it's heartwarming to see the difference the Music for the Mind fundraisers are having on people and it make all of the work worthwhile.
