Man wanted for assault in Tilbury arrested in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a man who was wanted in connection with an assault in Tilbury two weeks ago.

Police said their investigation started on July 16 when they were called to Young Street for an assault investigation and learned that the man had been arguing with another man when he hit the other man, injuring him.

The suspect left before police arrived, but they were able to identify him, so they obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Officers found him on Grand Avenue East in Chatham just before 10 a.m. Monday and took him into custody pending a bail hearing.

The man also allegedly damaged some police equipment after he was arrested.

He's now charged with assault and mischief.

Chatham-Kent man arrested after allegedly threatening homeowner

A 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing a future court date after he allegedly threatened a homeowner on Canterbury Street in Chatham.

Police said the man approached the homeowner and threatened to harm him without provocation.

Officers got the call at around 10:20 a.m. Monday and arrested the man a short distance away.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Police find fentanyl after license plate reader hits a match

A Chatham man has been arrested a second time for driving while banned -- this time, he was also allegedly carrying drugs with him.

CK police said they initiated a traffic stop Lacroix Street in Chatham shortly before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after an Automatic License Plate Reader hit a match.

Police said the driver stopped on Emma Street and then tried to take off running.

Officers said they were able to arrest the man after a short foot chase and also reported finding some fentanyl in his possession after they took him into custody.

Police said their investigation showed that the man was banned from driving as a result of some previous driving convictions and that he had been released from custody for the same offence.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

He is charged with six counts of driving while banned, one count of driving under suspension, and one count of drug possession.

CK police track down wanted man

The law has come calling for a 41-year-old Moraviantown man who was wanted for allegedly skipping his court date.

Police said he was supposed to show up in court to answer to a charge in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation that goes back to October 20, 2023.

Officers said they found him shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday on Austin Line in Orford Township and arrested him.

He was taken to police headquarters and was held for a bail hearing, then later released with a future court date in August.

He is currently charged with possession of stolen property.
