Man Arrested for Bail Violations

A Wallaceburg man is in custody after allegedly violating his bail conditions.

At 12:29 p.m. Thursday, police located the man on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg. The man was wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with his Conditional Sentence Order. He was prohibited from leaving his home unless under very specific exceptions and was found breaching this condition.

The 24-year-old was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He is to appear in court via video on July 22.

Woman Arrested for a Probation Violation

A woman wanted on an outstanding warrant has been arrested in Chatham.

The woman was spotted just before 2 p.m. Thursday on Wellington Street West in Chatham. She was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with her probation order. The 38-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She is currently facing the following charges: failing to comply with a probation order. She'll appear in court on July 31.

Woman Arrested for Bail Violations

A 44-year-old Chatham-Kent woman, wanted for failing to attend court, was arrested on Dover Street at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The woman was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to a March 2024 theft investigation. She was released with a new court date. She is currently facing the following charges: theft, possession of stolen property and two counts of failing to comply with an appearance notice.

Man arrested for Theft

At 4:55 p.m., police responded to a retail business on St. Clair Street, near Pioneer Line, in Chatham. A man was observed concealing merchandise on his person and leaving the store without making attempts to pay for the items.

The man was located a short distance away and arrested. The 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: two counts of failing to comply with a release order, five counts of possession of stolen property and five counts of theft.

Man Arrested for being Unlawfully in a Dwelling

At 7:05 p.m., police responded to Grand Avenue East for a break-and-enter. Officers learned the occupants of the residence returned home to find a man, unknown to them, sleeping on the sofa. Officers found to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance. The 48-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held until sober.

Man Arrested for Weapons Offences

At 7:20 p.m., police responded to a retail store on St. Clair Street, near McNaughton Avenue in Chatham for a weapons investigation. When they arrived, officers learned a man had been previously trespassed from the location.

When an employee confronted the man, the man pulled a knife and pointed it in a threatening manner at two employees. The man left the store prior to police arrival but was located outside.

A 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of assault, and two counts of assault with a weapon.
