Break-and-enter suspect caught in cornfield

Chatham Kent Police responded to a local business along Queens Line after a surveillance camera observed a man on the property.

When police arrived the man fled on foot into a nearby cornfield. Officers set up a perimeter deployed a drone, which located the suspect.

Officers were able to place the man under arrest, at which point it was determined the man was currently on a release order not to be on the property, as a result of previous incidents.

The man was charged with break and enter and held for bail.

Couple charged after assault

A 21-year-old man was charged with failing to comply with releases, assault, uttering threats, and forcible confinement after a disturbance at a King Street West residence.

Police say a 19-year-old woman attended the residence, despite the man being on a release order not to be around the woman.

According to CKP, an assault took place, though they did not specify who the victim was.

The man faces a slew of charges, while the woman was charged facilitating a breach of a court order.

Man arrested for breaching house arrest

A 20-year-old Chatham man was arrested after violating the conditions of this release.

The man was under house arrest, but when Chatham Police responded to a disturbance call was on McNaughton Ave East, they say the he was located outside of his residence.

The man was placed under arrest, charged with three counts of failing to comply with his release order, and held for bail.
