Summer is quickly approaching and with that comes the possibility of extreme heat warnings.
To help keep cool this summer, Employment and Social Services has coordinated with municipal and community partners to offer cooling stations for those in need.
If a heat warning is issued, the municipality will post on their official social media accounts and let community partners know about locations that will be available during regular business hours for anyone needing relief.
Those locations include:
Chatham Hope Haven located at 183 Wellington St. W., Chatham, will be open every day from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
ROCK Missions located at 233 Nelson St., Wallaceburg, will be open Monday to Friday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Municipality of Chatham-Kent offices in Blenheim, Chatham, Ridgetown, Tilbury, and Wallaceburg will be open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Their locations can be found here or call 311 to inquire.
Employment and Social Services office located on the 1st floor of the Health and Human Services Building at 435 Grand Ave. West, Chatham Monday to Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Chatham-Kent Public Libraries (all locations) will be available during their regular hours. Their locations and hours can be found here.
Those at risk during extreme heat-related weather conditions include adults over the age of 65, infants and young children, outdoor workers, and those lacking shelter, water, or food.
During these warnings, residents are encouraged to check on friends and neighbours who may be at risk and keep pets indoors.
