Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

On Saturday, police responded to a call for assistance from a 34-year-old Chatham man who claimed he was in danger and required the police.

The man was found in a closet by police who then learned he had used methamphetamine and had become concerned for his physical safety.

The 34-year-old Chatham man was discovered to have multiple outstanding warrants with Chatham-Kent police and was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

According to police, the man's concerns over his safety are currently under investigation.

Man Arrested for Assault and Impaired Driving

A 26-year-old man was arrested Saturday after police were called to a physical altercation between a man and a woman in Wallaceburg.

According to police, when they arrived on the scene, they apprehended the suspect operating a motor vehicle. The Wallaceburg man was arrested for assault and subsequently asked to provide a breath sample.

According to police he tested in excess of the legal limit and was charged with assault and impaired operation of a conveyance over 80.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
