Intruder gets rude awakening
A 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested for being unlawfully in a dwelling, after a homeowner found him sleeping in his place.
Chatham Kent Police responded to a report of a break and enter around 2 p.m. at a residential address in the area of Taylor Ave.
Police said a 45-year-old male was found sleeping in a chair inside the residence after the victim had returned home. After the man woke up, he then left the residence.
The man was later located and arrested. He was released with a future court date and conditions.

Domestic-related complaint leads to DUI
A 26-year-old from out of province had their vehicle impounded after an impaired driving arrest Saturday morning.
Around 5:15 a.m., police responded to a call for service on Keil Drive South, in Chatham. Police say the man had been involved in an earlier domestic-related complaint and was later observed operating a motor vehicle in the area of his girlfriend’s residence.
The man failed an alcohol screening device and was arrested for impaired driving. His vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
He was later released with a future court date.

Traffic blitz leads to 18 tickets
On Friday night, members of the Traffic Management Unit focused on the downtown Chatham area, resulting in 18 tickets being issued for various Highway Traffic Act offences.
Police also issued 10 warnings, seized three sets of licence plates, and towed three different motor vehicles.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds motorists to obey the speed limit, noting its a significant factor in collisions with serious and fatal injuries.
