Two Watford residents are facing more than 100 charges combined after they allegedly stole some cheques from a business they worked for and then used them.
Chatham-Kent police said their investigation started on March 21, 2024 and that the man and woman who were arrested turned themselves in at police headquarters in Chatham just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
CK News Today has learned that the victim was a business in Orford Township and the two accused persons were employees of the business.
A 19-year-old Watford woman was charged with 22 counts each of fraud and uttering forged documents along with one count each of theft and possession of stolen property.
A 23-year-old Watford man was charged with 27 counts each of fraud and uttering forged documents and one count each of theft and possession of stolen property.
Police said the theft and possession charges are connected to the cheques being stolen while the other charges are a result of the cheques being used.
