Two drivers suffer serious injuries after daytime crash in Raleigh Township

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a serious crash southwest of Chatham that sent two people to a London hospital with serious injuries.

Police said they were called to the scene at the intersection of Ninth Line and Wellwood Road in Raleigh Township shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday for a report of a serious motor vehicle collision.

Officers said a pickup truck and an SUV collided in the intersection, causing the pickup truck to go into a ditch and roll over.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash.

Officers said the SUV also rolled over, but it landed back on its wheels.

Both of the vehicles ended up in a field at the northeast corner of the intersection and both of the drivers were seriously hurt as a result of the crash. They were both taken to a London hospital for further treatment.

A passenger in one of the vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by medical staff in Chatham-Kent.

The collision is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Joel Rehill at [email protected] or 519-355-1092.
