CK firefighters kept busy during Easter weekend

Two Chatham-Kent homes went up in flames over the long weekend.

On Saturday, just before 9 p.m. firefighters from Wallaceburg were called to a residence on Bluewater Avenue.

When they arrived, the only resident of the home was waiting outside, uninjured.

Crews from Chatham, Tupperville, and Dresden were called in to help extinguish the blaze.

Fire officials said that the origin of the fire was a wood stove, and that it started accidentally.

Damage to the home is estimated at $350,000.

Early Monday morning, fire crews from Blenheim, Raleigh South, and Erieau also responded to a structure fire.

They were called to a Fargo Road address just before 1:30 a.m.

According to the fire department, a total of 34 firefighters were on scene to get the flames under control.

"The house was unoccupied, no injuries reported, and the cause is undetermined," a release read.

There is no damage estimate for the Fargo Road house fire at this time.
