Three court skippers arrested in Chatham
Chatham-Kent police have caught up with three people who were all wanted for missing their court dates.
Police said they found the first person -- a 47-year-old Chatham-Kent man -- while officers were following up on a report of some suspicious activity on Morning Glory Lane in Chatham just before 7 a.m. Monday.
Officers said they found the man and confirmed that he was wanted for failing to attend court, so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
In the second case, a 40-year-old Glencoe man turned himself in at CK police headquarters just after 10 a.m. Monday.
Police said he was wanted for skipping court in January 2024.
The man was arrested and released with a future court date.
In the third case, police said an officer on general patrol who was conducting a traffic stop on King Street West near Robertson Avenue in Chatham at 1 p.m. Monday found a woman who was wanted for skipping court.
Officers said the 30-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and taken to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Pair of arrests on warrants
Chatham-Kent police also managed to shorten their wanted list by making a pair of arrests on Monday.
Police said they found a 39-year-old Chatham woman on Jeffery Street in Chatham shortly after 3 p.m. Monday while they were investigating some "suspicious activity."
Officers said they confirmed the woman was wanted on a warrant for theft, so she was arrested. The woman was later released with a future court date.
Police also arrested a 49-year-old Chatham-Kent man shortly after 5 p.m. Monday in a separate case while they were conducting a well-being check on a man on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Officers said they confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding DNA warrant, so he was taken to police headquarters. The man was later released without any conditions.

Chatham man arrested for intimate partner violence
A 28-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges in connection with an intimate partner violence investigation in Blenheim.
Police said their investigation started just before 4 p.m. Monday and that they were able to track down the suspect about four hours later in Chatham.
The accused was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
Police said the man is currently charged with two counts of assault and one count each of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, failing to comply with an undertaking, and criminal harassment.

CK man accused of theft allegedly shoved officer during arrest
A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was already in trouble for stealing is facing another charge after he allegedly pushed an officer who was arresting him.
Police said they arrested the man after they were called to a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham at around 11 a.m. Monday for a theft investigation.
Officers learned that the man had allegedly taken some items off of the shelves at the business and left without paying for them.
While he was being arrested, the man allegedly pushed an officer in an attempt to flee from custody.
He was taken to police headquarters and charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and resisting arrest.
The man was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
