Pair face mischief charges after damaging vehicles

A 40-year-old man and 43-year-old woman are both facing mischief charges after a heated argument at a Princess Street residence. 

According to police, both of them damaged each other's vehicles and then got into physical altercation. 

The man was also charged with assault and released with a future court date of April 29.

Woman charged for failing to appear in court

Police arrested a 40-year-old woman on University Drive. They say she had been charged previously and given a court date, but didn't appear for the second time.

The woman was arrested and held for bail due to a personal choice not to attend court.

Man exposes himself along Stanley Avenue

A 42-year-old man was arrested for indecent exposure.

According to police, while under the influence of drugs he exposed himself to staff at a local medical building.

The man was arrested and held for bail.

Major response to Dover disturbance

The Chatham-Kent police responded to a residence on Dover Centre Line around 11:45 p.m. They said they attempted to make contact with a man at the location and due to safety concerns, negotiations were attempted.

Police said the incident required the deployment the Critical Incident Response Team, Canine Unit, Criminal Investigation Branch, drones and armoured rescue vehicle.

Approximately four hours later the 32-year-old man was taken into custody.

Charges have not been announced as the incident is still under investigation.

One suspension during RIDE checks

Chatham police conducted a RIDE program on Friday.

Officers checked 253 vehicles, three tests done and one driver had their licence suspended for three days.

St Patrick’s weekend cautions

The Chatham-Kent Police encourage everyone to celebrate St Patrick’s day safely.

They ask if you are out celebrating to identify a designated driver for your group, not let friends drive after drinking, and if you've been imbibing, get a ride home from someone who has not been drinking, call a taxi or a local ride sharing services.

The Chatham-Kent Police will be conducting RIDE programs across the municipality all weekend.
