Sleeping man was wanted by police

Chatham-Kent police managed to cross another name off of their wanted list when they found a wanted man sleeping on Victoria Avenue in Chatham Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they found the man while they were responding to a call for a well-being check of a man who appeared to be unwell.

He was reportedly sleeping on the steps of a business.

Officers were able to confirm that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant, so they arrested him.

The 54-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order and he was later released with a future court date.

Chatham teen arrested for public intoxication

A 17-year-old Chatham youth spent some time in police custody on Wednesday after she was arrested for public intoxication.

Officers picked her up on Thames Street in Chatham shortly after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday while they were responding to a well-being check on a young woman.

When police found her, she was reportedly intoxicated to the point where she couldn't care for herself, so officers took her to police headquarters before she was released to a family member.

Man wanted by Huron OPP arrested in Chatham

A 32-year-old Ontario man who was wanted by OPP in Huron County turned up in Chatham on Wednesday.

CK police said they got a tip that the man was walking on Colborne Street at around 7:30 p.m. and officers arrested him shortly after that on Murray Street.

The man was taken into police custody in Chatham-Kent before he was turned over to the OPP.

Wanted man arrested for failing to attend court

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 60-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted for skipping court.

Police said they found him on Grand River Line in Dover Township while they were responding to a disturbance call shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers were able to confirm that the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant, so they arrested him and took him to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

He is charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking and one count each of assault causing bodily harm, threats, theft, possession of stolen property, and failing to attend court.
