Woman arrested for stealing from LCBO

The long arm of the law has caught up to a 39-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted for allegedly stealing from the LCBO.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman allegedly walked into the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham on December 28, grabbed some items from the shelves, and left without paying for them.

Officers said they were able to identify the woman after reviewing some surveillance footage but they couldn't track her down right away, so they got a warrant for her arrest.

The woman was arrested on Jeffrey Street in Chatham shortly before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and she was charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

She was later released with a future court date.

Three people arrested for skipping court

Chatham-Kent police crossed three more names off of their wanted list after making a trio of arrests on Tuesday.

In the first case, a tip about a theft in Chatham led police to a wanted woman.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the woman shortly after 1:15 p.m. Tuesday when they were following up on a theft investigation.

Officers said they were able to confirm that the woman was wanted for failing to attend court, so she was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

The 37-year-old woman was charged with failing to attend court and mischief and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

In the second case, a woman who was wanted for skipping her scheduled court date in December of last year was arrested when she showed up at the courthouse at around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said she was later released with a future court date.

In the third case, police arrested a 54-year-old Chatham man who was wanted by police for skipping his court date when they were following up on an unrelated matter on Jeffrey Street in Chatham Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they found the man shortly after 2:45 p.m. Tuesday and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman found passed out in the driver's seat

A 31-year-old Chatham woman is facing a pair of charges after she was allegedly found unconscious in the driver's seat of a parked vehicle in Chatham.

Police said they found her shortly before 4:20 p.m. on Richmond Street and believed she was impaired by an intoxicating substance, so they arrested her and took her back to police headquarters for further tests.

The woman was later charged with impaired driving by drugs and failure to comply with a demand.

She was later released from custody with a future court date.
