Pain Court man arrested almost five years after fraud investigation starts

The long arm of the law has finally caught up with a 27-year-old Pain Court man accused of falsifying some employment records.

Chatham-Kent police said their investigation into the case started in October 2019 after they got a tip.

Police said they were able to form grounds to arrest the man and charge him in connection with the investigation, but they couldn't track him down, so they obtained a warrant for his arrest.

He was able to lay low for almost five years, but CK police said Leamington OPP arrested him on Wednesday.

The man was charged with one count of fraud under $5,000 and five counts of falsifying employee records and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Impaired driver parked in the middle of the road

A 55-year-old Chatham Township man is facing an impaired driving charge after police found a vehicle parked in the middle of the road in Wallaceburg.

CK police said they made the arrest after getting a tip about an erratic driver on Bluewater Line in Wallaceburg shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday. Officers said they were also informed that the vehicle was seen driving in the middle of the roadway and drastically changing speed before it came to a stop and parked in the middle of the roadway.

Police were able to quickly track the vehicle down and believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested.

The man was then taken to police headquarters for some breath tests and he was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Domestic argument leads to arrest

A 27-year-old man is in trouble with police after he allegedly allowed a specific woman to live with him even though she had been ordered to stay away from him.

Police said they learned that after they were called to Longwoods Road in Chatham for an assault investigation on Tuesday.

Officers said their investigation showed that the man and the woman had been arguing when their fight turned physical.

The woman left before police arrived, but they were able to identify her and learned that she had previously been released from the court with conditions that banned her from associating with the man.

Police said despite that, the man had allegedly allowed the woman to continue living with him.

He was arrested and charged with facilitating a breach of a release order and he was later released himself with conditions and a future court date.
