Woman banned from leaving Nova Scotia turns up in Chatham-Kent
A 33-year-old woman who was on strict orders to stay in Nova Scotia has been arrested in Chatham-Kent.
CK police said they found her when they were investigating a report of an abandoned vehicle on Colborne Street in Chatham shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday.
Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they found a man and a woman inside.
Police said their investigation showed that the man was wanted for failing to show up for a scheduled court date after he had broken his bail conditions.
The 38-year-old Chatham man was arrested and later released with a future court date.
Police also learned that the woman who was in the vehicle had been arrested by RCMP in Nova Scotia in April 2023 and had been later released with conditions that included a ban on her from leaving that province and a ban on her communicating or associating with anyone who has a criminal record.
A 33-year-old woman was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions. She was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Man wanted for skipping court two-and-a-half years ago arrested
A 35-year-old Tilbury man who evaded police for almost three years has been arrested again.
CK police said they found him on St. Clair Street in Tilbury shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday.
He was wanted for skipping a scheduled court appearance in July 2021.
The man was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman accused of stealing from Winners
A 39-year-old Chatham woman is facing a pair of charges after she walked out of the Winners store in Chatham with a five-finger discount.
Police said they were called to the store shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday for a theft investigation and learned that the woman had taken some items from the store and left without paying for them.
Officers were able to identify a suspect and arrested her at her residence. They were also able to recover the stolen items.
The woman was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. She was taken to police headquarters before she was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man turns himself in after failing to comply with his release conditions
A Wallaceburg man who was released with conditions in 2017 has turned himself in to police after he failed to complete some court-ordered programs.
Police said they had an active warrant for the man's arrest when he turned himself in at CK police headquarters just before noon on Thursday.
He was arrested and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted man found hiding near Wallaceburg
A 23-year-old man who was found hiding on a property near Wallaceburg is facing charges now.
CK police said they caught up with him after they got a report of some suspicious activity on McGregor Line on Tuesday.
Officers said a homeowner called police after finding the man hiding on a property on that road. The man allegedly took off when he was confronted by the homeowner.
Police said they were able to identify the man and also connected him to a theft that took place in August of last year.
Officers said they found the man on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg early Friday morning and arrested him.
He was charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property and was later released with conditions and a future court date.
