Blenheim man accused of slashing police cruiser's tires before breaking into LCBO

A Blenheim man is facing a trio of charges after what appears to have been a planned-out break-in at his hometown LCBO.

Chatham-Kent police said their investigation started when officers got a call from a witness who said they saw a man puncturing the tires of a cruiser at the police station on Talbot Street in Blenheim at around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the officers were able to confirm that four tires of a cruiser had been damaged.

A couple of minutes later, officers were called to an alarm at the LCBO on Marlborough Street South in Blenheim.

They were able to identify a suspect in the case by reviewing some surveillance video and managed to track him down about half an hour after the break-in took place.

A 43-year-old Blenheim man was charged with mischief, break-and-enter, and theft. He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with assaulting a police officer gets in trouble again

A 24-year-old Walpole Island woman who was already charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer is in more trouble with the law after she allegedly skipped her court date.

Officers said the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for missing that appointment and showed up at the courthouse on Grand Avenue West in Chatham shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

She was later released with a future court date.

Man arrested for fraud, skipping court

A 36-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for fraud and failing to attend court has been arrested.

CK police said they found him on Mary Street in Chatham at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers said the fraud investigation goes back to January 2.

The accused is currently facing several other charges including theft, using forged documents, and possession of stolen property.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Man wanted for bail violation picked up in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 43-year-old Wallaceburg man who has been wanted since October of last year for violating his bail conditions.

Police said they found the man on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.

He is currently charged with assault, assault with a weapon, mischief, uttering threats, and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
