Warmer-than-average temperatures across southwestern Ontario are giving local golfers an early start to this year's golf season.
The links are open at Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club in Oungah.
Pro Shop Manager Mike Elgie says the club is open year-round but tee times are weather-dependent, so long as it's dry enough to play.
"We're going into our fifth year being open, weather permitting, all year round," said Elgie.
According to Elgie, the course saw about 40 to 50 golfers out on the course on Wednesday and about 70 golfers on Thursday.
Elgie says he's anticipating another busy day on Friday with up to 120 golfers expected to visit the course.
"A lot of people have had the golf itch because they've been hibernating all winter," said Elgie. "The last couple of days have been busy."
Looking at last year's numbers, Elgie says he's noticed a significant increase for this time of year.
"They're significantly a little bit higher this year because of the weather," said Elgie.
Golf courses across the region will usually close for the season toward the end of October.
Elgie says Hidden Hills will stay open but the golf carts remain parked to protect the course through the winter season.
"This is unusual to have this many golfers out this time of year, definitely," said Elgie.
