Police track down man wanted for stealing from liquor store
The long arm of the law has caught up with a 26-year-old Chatham man accused of stealing from an LCBO in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police said the man walked into the store on Wellington Street West in Chatham on November 17, 2023, took some items off of the shelves, and left without paying for them.
Police said they were able to identify a suspect after reviewing some video surveillance and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
An officer found the man on Oxley Drive in Chatham just before 3 p.m. Thursday and arrested him in connection with the case.
He was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and was later released with a future court date.

Man wanted for almost six months arrested in Chatham
A 32-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for almost half a year for skipping his court date is back in police custody.
The man allegedly skipped out on his scheduled court appearance on July 23, 2023, so a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police said they found the man on Wellington Street West in Chatham on Thursday and took him into custody pending a bail hearing.
He's currently charged with two counts each of theft and possession of stolen property along with one count each of failing to comply with a probation order and failing to attend court.

Thamesville man arrested for drunk driving after crashing into hydro pole
A 23-year-old Thamesville man is facing an impaired driving charge after a late-night crash into a hydro pole.
CK police said they were called to the scene of the collision on Jane Road in Thamesville shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday and noted that the pole was severely damaged and had to be repaired by Hydro One crews.
Officers at the scene believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests.
The 23-year-old man was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit before he was released with conditions and a future court date.
His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Wanted man found standing in the middle of the road
A 41-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted by police was arrested early Friday morning after he was spotted standing in the middle of Keil Drive South in Chatham.
Police said they got that call at around 4:45 a.m. Friday and confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to check in with his probation officer last month.
He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.
