Traffic stop nets wanted woman

A 43-year-old Walpole Island woman accused of skipping her court date has a new appointment in her calendar now.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the woman after pulling over a vehicle at around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday for a routine traffic stop.

She was wanted for failing to show up for a scheduled court appearance in February 2023.

The accused was arrested and later released with a new court date.

Man wanted for breaching probation turns himself in

A Wallaceburg man who was wanted by police is facing a new court date after he turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 58-year-old man is accused of "failing to participate in programs as directed by the probation officer."

He turned himself in just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Chatham-Kent police station in Wallaceburg.

The man was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Man arrested for public intoxication after argument at LCBO

A 75-year-old Chatham man spent some time sobering up in police custody after he got into an argument with a staff member at an LCBO in Chatham.

Police said they were called to the store on Wellington Street West for a disturbance just before 3 p.m. Tuesday and learned that the man "became argumentative" with staff when he was refused service.

Officers said they determined the man was intoxicated to the point where he was unable to care for himself, so he was taken into custody.

He was issued a Provincial Offences Notice.

Man arrested for breaching release conditions with variety store visit

A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man is in more trouble with the law after he allegedly showed up at a variety store on King Street East in Chatham even though he had been banned from going there.

Police said they were called to the store at around 4 p.m. Tuesday and found the man there.

Officers arrested him after confirming that the visit breached his bail conditions and he was charged with failing to comply.

The man was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
