Chatham man arrested twice in just over an hour

A 37-year-old Chatham man is facing a handful of charges after he was arrested twice on Monday.

Police said the first time, the man was arrested at the courthouse on Grand Avenue West in Chatham just after 10 a.m. Monday because he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend a previous court date.

He was released a short time later, but police said they arrested him again shortly after 11 a.m. when they were following up on a call about a bail violation at a residential building on King Street East in Chatham.

Officers said they found the man there and confirmed he was bound by conditions that banned him from attending that specific address.

He was arrested a second time and taken to police headquarters -- this time, he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
