Teen arrested for impaired driving

Chatham-Kent police arrested a 19-year-old from Fingal on Sunday.

At 2:40 a.m. an officer on patrol said he saw a vehicle run a red light in the area of Grand Avenue West in Chatham. The officer pulled the vehicle over and during the traffic stop determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The teen was taken to police headquarters for further testing and was charged with having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.

He was released with a future court date of January 22, 2024.

Police investigating break-and-enter

Early Sunday morning, police responded to an alarm call at an under-construction building on Grand Avenue East.

The call came in at 2:55 a.m. Officers are working with the building's owners to determine the costs of the incident.

Man charged with being drunk in public

Just before 11 p.m. Saturday, CK police found a man walking on Fourth Street who they believed to be intoxicated.

The 39-year-old was taken into custody for his own safety, as police deemed him unable to care for himself.

He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and released once he'd sobered up.
