The Chatham-Kent Hospice is getting another boost from a local foundation set up in honour of two businessmen who made their money in the crude oil industry.
The James A. Beattie Foundation recently donated $50,000 to the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
Brothers James and Jack Beattie from Middlesex County set up the foundation in the 1950s after they realized the elderly in their community were not being cared for properly.
“This generous donation is the direct result of two brothers who saw a need and met it. Not only did they support seniors for many years, but their legacy continues to support families in the area through the Chatham-Kent Hospice," said Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation Executive Director Jodi Maroney in a release. "We are very grateful to the Foundation for their care and compassion for local families as they say good-bye to their loved one."
The Beattie Foundation continues to support seniors in the region, specifically at the hospice in Chatham-Kent and the Hospice of Elgin, which is currently under construction.
