Police said they found the man on Grand Avenue West in Chatham just after 7 a.m. Monday while they were following up on a disturbance call.

Woman accused of breaching conditions right after she was released

A 26-year-old Ingersoll woman is spending some extra time in police custody after she was arrested twice on New Year's Day.

Police said the woman was arrested the first time after officers were called to a residence on Jeffrey Street in Chatham just after 8 a.m. Monday for a disturbance and learned that the woman had allegedly hit a man with a wooden board while they were arguing.

Officers said the man had minor physical injuries as a result of the attack and that they also learned the woman was under a weapons ban.

She was arrested and released from custody at around 10 a.m. Monday with conditions and a future court date.

Police said the woman's release conditions required her to stay away from a specific address on Jeffrey Street and to stop communicating with the person who lives there.

It didn't take her long to get arrested a second time.

Police said after the woman was released, she went right back to Jeffrey Street and was arrested about 15 minutes after she left the police station.

The accused was charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking along with one count each of assault with a weapon, failing to comply with a probation order, and breaching her release conditions.

She was taken back to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
