Bottle drive to fuel literacy in Chatham-Kent

The Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent is looking to pour some support into child literacy across the region.

The club's Bottles for Books fundraising event is in partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a program that provides children with quality books for no cost.

"The power of reading and imagination in a child's life cannot be overstated," said Kiwanis Club of CK Chair Jennifer Paradis in a statement. "By supporting Bottles for Books, not only are you recycling and contributing to a cleaner environment, but you're also giving children the gift of education and imagination."

Local residents are encouraged to leave their empty liquor and beer bottles on their driveways on January 6.

Volunteers will pick them up between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

All the funds raised through the bottle drive will go directly toward the Imagination Library program.
