Local bands set to strike a chord against hunger

Bands from across Chatham-Kent are set to hit the stage and strike a chord against residents going hungry.

The 19th annual Holiday Jam for Hunger will be held at the Sons of Kent Brewing Company in Chatham on Friday, December 29, beginning at 7 p.m. with all the proceeds benefitting two local organizations.

All the proceeds will go to Hope House – Mental Health Network of Chatham-Kent and Chatham Outreach for Hunger.

"The past year has been kind of shocking," said Musician and Chatham-Kent Councillor Alysson Storey. "There a lot of struggles that our friends and neighbours are facing that I did not realize the scale of."

Local alternative rock band Level Up will open the show.

Also taking part, as they have in past years, is The Dave Trinca Xperience (DTX).

“Clancy and Dan are some of the most experienced and in-demand musicians in Chatham-Kent,” said Storey. “The audience is in for a treat whenever they are on stage.”

Guitarist and vocalist Cole Pereira will perform acoustic versions of rock, country and pop songs.

“All of the participating musicians have strong connections to Chatham-Kent and generously share their talents to benefit Chatham-Kent organizations," said Storey. "It’s thanks to them that the annual Holiday Jam for Hunger shows have raised close to $30,000 for local charities."

Sons of Kent Brewing and an anonymous donor are generously sponsoring this year’s event.

Admission is by donation.
