Woman charged after refusing to leave her holding cell

A 48-year-old woman is in more trouble with police after she allegedly refused to leave her holding cell at Chatham-Kent police headquarters.

Police said the woman was arrested on Thursday and charged with causing a disturbance before she was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Officers said the woman refused to leave her cell for processing, though, and didn't follow directions even after she had been cautioned, so she was charged with obstructing a peace officer.

Two more wanted criminals arrested

Chatham-Kent police have arrested two more local residents who ended up on their naughty list.

Police said an officer on general patrol picked up a 38-year-old Chatham-Kent woman on Grand Avenue West in Chatham who was wanted on some outstanding warrants.

She was arrested just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday and is currently charged with four counts each of theft and possession of stolen property. She's also accused of impaired driving and failing to attend court.

Police said the woman was taken directly to the courthouse for a bail hearing.

In the second case, CK police got some help from their colleagues at the Essex OPP.

Police said they were notified by the OPP on Friday that they had a man in custody who was wanted on a warrant in Chatham-Kent, so the man was taken to CKPS headquarters in Chatham and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

The 27-year-old Merlin man is currently charged with four counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of breaching his release conditions, two counts of failing to attend court, and one count each of uttering threats, assault, and mischief.

Police said the man is also accused of "several" driving offences.
